A SCOTTISH island is advertising for one of the UK’s most remote jobs and it comes with a house. A full-time district nurse is being advertised on Fair Isle in Shetland for September when the current nurse is set to leave the post. 1The island is looking for a full-time nurse to join themCredit: GettyThe island, which is halfway between Shetland and Orkney, is home to around 50 people and is owned by the National Trust.And the new position will come with a two-bedroom home which the new nurse can rent. The job will require the nurse to provide care for both planned and emergency situations. They will be the first point of contact during an emergency and they will be responsible for all island locals and visitors as there is no GP practice or other medical services on the island. And the job will be 37.5 hours a week with the job advert saying “a high degree of personal resilience” is needed for whoever fulfils the post.Applications for the position are now open and are set to close on September 3. More information on the job, including how to apply, can be found here.One resident Eileen Thomson, who moved back to the island six years ago, said the job was “a good peerie [little] job.”She added: “Especially to folk working south where it’s really busy and stressful and there’s never enough resources, you get to come here and it’s such a gorgeous peerie place.”You get to really look after [the locals] and really get to know folk… It’s a much nicer way of life, compared to if you’re working in a big busy hospital.”Meanwhile, Good Shepherd Ferry announced tow more job vacancies on the island.
